New York, NY – January 12, 2020 – The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEP) has issued a new outdoor patio chair certification to childrens chairs.
According to the DEP, childrens patio chairs are considered one of the most environmentally friendly outdoor furniture options in New York state.
The new certification is part of a wider initiative to make outdoor furniture accessible to children, including new patio chairs.
“The new indoor certification is a great first step towards making outdoor furniture and chairs available to children who are most in need,” said John T. Gagnon, the DEPC’s Deputy Director for Sustainable Infrastructure.
“Children can enjoy outdoor activities like baseball, hockey, and volleyball with their friends and family, without having to leave their homes.”
The new outdoor chairs are available to purchase from the Department of Public Works for $199 and up, or from the DEPS retail stores for $249.
Children can also purchase a new set of outdoor chairs for $179.
The outdoor chairs will be available in October.
The department’s new outdoor chair certification, which will be effective January 1, 2020, will be updated for every new indoor outdoor chair to be certified.
The chair certification is an extension of the state’s commitment to children and families in New, State-supported, and private-sector facilities, including the New York Parks Department, Department of Parks and Recreation, Department for Children and Families, New York Children’s Hospital, New Jersey Department of Children and Family Services, and New York Department of Education.
